Luna Ring: Japan’s Plan to Build Solar Panels on Moon for Limitless Clean Energy

A futuristic proposal by Japanese construction giant Shimizu Corporation is drawing global attention for its ambitious vision to generate limitless clean energy from space by building a massive solar power system on the Moon. A giant leap for clean energy.

The concept, known as the “Luna Ring,” involves constructing a massive belt of solar panels encircling the Moon’s equator. Stretching roughly 11,000 kilometres in length and potentially up to 400 kilometres in width, the structure would form a continuous ring designed to capture sunlight without interruption. Unlike solar panels on Earth, which are affected by weather, clouds, and nightfall, the lunar setup would benefit from constant exposure to sunlight.
